JP Selecta laboratory baths provide precise temperature control for incubation, enzymatic reactions, paraffin melting and maintenance in histology, biological sample thawing, stability testing and ultrasonic cleaning. For external temperature regulation with sub-milli-Kelvin precision, see our immersion thermostats and for sub-zero sample storage our refrigerated cabinets.
The operating principle relies on forced convection heat transfer within a volume of thermal fluid (typically distilled water). The required thermal stability and uniformity are governed by DIN 12876:2025 on laboratory circulators and baths, which defines precision classes and safety requirements for heating fluids. The quality of water used as thermal medium should follow the recommendations of USP <1231> on water for pharmaceutical purposes.
The range includes water baths with hinged lid and sample tray, thermostatic baths with internal circulation pump that guarantees ±0.1 °C uniformity throughout the volume, refrigerated baths with built-in compressor extending the range from -20 °C to +200 °C, and ultrasonic baths for cleaning and degassing. Available capacities span 2 to 60 litres. For histological flotation processes, see our biology and histology equipment.
Applications cover enzymatic incubation at 37 °C, paraffin melting at 56-60 °C, controlled blood plasma thawing, viscosity testing at defined temperature (combine with our viscometers) and stability testing in pharmaceutical laboratories. Probe metrological traceability is ensured against the NIST SRM program standards and, for maximum accuracy, against the Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer Calibration Laboratory (SPRTCL).
Regarding regulatory compliance, JP Selecta baths meet the general requirements of IEC 61010-1 and the particular requirements for heating equipment in IEC 61010-2-010, including overheating prevention, safety temperature limitation and low-liquid cut-off devices. Temperature measurement via digital contact probes follows ASTM E2877 guidance for digital contact thermometers, ensuring international traceability under ISO/IEC 17025.
Manufactured in Abrera under triple certification ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 13485:2018, JP Selecta baths include calibration documentation, CE conformity certificate and our own technical service network in Spain with response time under 48 hours. Request technical advice to select the right bath for your working volume, thermal range and required stability level.
A thermostatic bath maintains temperature with ±0.1°C precision through PID control, ideal for tests requiring thermal stability. A basic water bath offers heating without precise control, suitable for less demanding applications.
Ultrasonic baths use high-frequency waves for deep cleaning of laboratory equipment, liquid degassing, sample preparation, and solute dissolution. They are essential in analytical and clinical laboratories.
Capacity depends on the volume and number of samples to process simultaneously. JP Selecta baths range from 2L (individual use) to 45L (multiple processing). Consider a 30% additional margin over the actual sample volume.
JP Selecta baths are supplied with a conformity certificate. For certified calibration with international traceability (ISO 17025), JP Selecta offers optional calibration service through its technical service network.
