JP Selecta regulation and control devices include temperature controllers, PID regulators and monitoring instruments designed to ensure stability and reproducibility of laboratory processes. These devices integrate with ovens, thermostatic baths and reactors, providing precise temperature control with ±0.1 °C resolution.

The operating principle combines a temperature sensor (Pt100 probe or thermocouple), a PID (proportional-integral-derivative) algorithm that calculates the power required to maintain the set-point, and an output stage (relay, SSR or analog output) that acts on the heating or cooling element. Industrial Pt100 probes follow the specifications of ASTM E1137/E1137M on industrial platinum resistance thermometers, and thermocouples follow the tables of ASTM E230/E230M on temperature-electromotive force (emf) tables for standardized thermocouples.

The range spans from compact digital controllers with TFT display to advanced regulation systems with data logging, programmable alarms and connectivity for remote monitoring via Ethernet/WiFi. Data acquisition and logging follows the good measurement practice guidance of the NIST Process Measurement and Control program, which defines calibration methods and uncertainty characterization.

Applications cover critical temperature regulation in blood banks and pharmaceutical cabinets (see our refrigerated cabinets), continuous cold chain monitoring for vaccines and biologicals, biotechnology process regulation, water quality testing per ISO 7027-1 on turbidity determination (quantitative methods) and ISO 7027-2 (semi-quantitative methods), and analytical methods approved by the EPA Drinking Water Analytical Methods.

Regarding regulatory compliance in safety-critical applications, JP Selecta devices are designed following the principles of the IEC 61508 functional safety family for electrical/electronic/programmable safety-related systems, and specifically IEC 61508-1 on general requirements. All devices meet the traceability requirements of ISO standards and GMP.
