What is a magnetic stirrer and how does it work?

A magnetic stirrer uses a rotating magnetic field to spin a magnetic bar (stir bar) submerged in the liquid, delivering homogeneous mixing without mechanical contact. It is ideal for dissolutions, chemical reactions and media preparation.

When should I choose a heated magnetic stirrer?

Choose a heated model when you need to dissolve solutes that require elevated temperature, run thermochemical reactions or keep samples at controlled temperature during stirring. JP Selecta models reach up to 350 °C.

What is the difference between an orbital shaker and a vortex mixer?

An orbital shaker performs horizontal circular motion, ideal for cell cultures, staining and washes in multiwell plates. A vortex generates high-speed vibration for rapid mixing of individual tubes (Eppendorf, Falcon).

What is a multi-position stirrer?

A multi-position stirrer lets you stir multiple samples simultaneously on a single platform (5 or 9 positions). It is ideal for laboratories that process sample batches in parallel, optimising time and bench space.
