Do you offer calibration services for thermostats?

Yes. JP Selecta provides certified calibration with international traceability (ISO 17025) for all its thermostats. The service can be performed on-site or at our facilities.

What is the difference between an immersion thermostat and a circulation thermostat?

An immersion thermostat is a head unit designed to be clamped and submerged in open baths and tanks, homogenising the temperature of the liquid inside through its pump. A circulation thermostat (or recirculator) is designed to send that heat-transfer fluid to an external device in a closed circuit —such as a reactor jacket or a viscometer— controlling the temperature remotely.

Is a laboratory thermostat the same as a thermostatic bath?

No. The thermostat is the control unit (which includes the digital panel, heating element and stirring pump). The thermostatic bath is the complete solution integrating both the bath or tank and the thermostatic unit that regulates the heat of the fluid inside.

For which applications is a refrigerated thermostat needed?

Refrigerated cryothermostats are essential when setting temperatures below ambient or when the residual heat from a chemical or enzymatic reaction must be dissipated rapidly, feeding condensers or cooling circuits down to −30 °C.

What precision does a JP Selecta thermostat offer versus a conventional bath?

An advanced thermostat provides higher stability (accuracies down to hundredths of a degree) and 0.1 °C resolution. Whereas a conventional bath heats passively from the bottom (potentially creating cold spots), a thermostat with a recirculation pump constantly stirs the fluid, ensuring uniform temperature across the entire vessel.

Are they valid for laboratories accredited under ISO/IEC 17025?

Yes. Our equipment is designed to comply with demanding standards such as DIN 12876. The Pt100 probe design and PID control enable multi-point calibration procedures that exceed the qualification requirements set by laboratories certified under ISO/IEC 17025.

What does traceability to ITS-90 mean?

ITS-90 refers to the International Temperature Scale of 1990. It means the probes and measurements of the equipment are calibrated through an unbroken documented chain of comparisons linked to standards endorsed by this international scale. It is the highest guarantee that the value measured by your thermostat matches the actual temperature universally and precisely.
